The goal was to persuade, not overpower. Plus the ability to stay reasonably sober was appreciated.Quote:Not really. If you notice, not one wesen in the pilot acted even remotely afraid of Nick, or tried to get away. While Monroe made an attempt to explain how grimms were the stuff of nightmares, he never once appeared afraid of Nick and was actually fascinated by the fact that he got to meet a grimm.
Yet subsequent episodes were inconsistent. Some wesen were so afraid of Nick they ended up losing control and running away, only to lose their lives. Yet others had absolutely no fear of him. The inconsistency was never explained.
Quote:I'll agree with you that wesen come in different personalities. That was clearly shown in the pilot episode. But what was also shown is that none of them from Adalind to the man in the precinct to the Hulda to Monroe showed any fear of Nick (or in the case of the Hulda, fear of Marie). This despite the different personalities you pointed out. It's not me who's seeing wesen as having a single stereotypical reaction to grimms. It was clearly portrayed in the pilot episode.
With subsequent episodes there was never anything to indicate why the writers felt some wesen should all of the sudden be fearful of Nick. It's just the way it was, and to me, going by my first impression, it was inconsistent.
And as you yourself know and have often pointed out, story elements were changed in Grimm. They weren't always done for logical reasons, at least that's what I have gathered from your own posts. So we agree to disagree here.

Some of us are highly afraid of snakes, others are more "Oh look at this beautiful king snake(not dangerous)" while others see a 5 foot brown snake and act like its 20 feet long. Most Wessen who were doing something illegal were afraid, other crooks not so much. In real life, some people are afraid of doctors, others are "Oh boy, a new pain to complain to my friends about".
eric, do you also find it amusing how some of these Forum contributors are claiming to be so much more understanding and open minded about their opinions compared to some "bullies", yet, there is a need for other contributors, such as your self, needing to explain to them how the world is made up of varying types of people with varying types of beliefs and reactions to similar situations. I think there is a word for those types of contributors. I think they are called Hypocrites.
