The entries in the Grimm books, even the entries Nick added. Read like journal entries, recounting what they observed. Nick or Hank reports, recount the incident. They document the who, what , where, and when. Even though the Grimm books had information about solutions. They where not like the hexenbiest books which seemed to be written as manuals. The books the Rosalee used seemed to be written as text books. Many had points of view, rules, laws, antidotes, and historical documentation of events. Rosalee books recorded the dangers and things they did for survival. The Grimm book recorded how they defeated and enemy. Several times Rosalee has a book on a particular wesen, but no information on how to defeat it.
Then the show added HW. At that point why would you need the Grimm character the show created in the first four seasons. I saw it as the show trying to answer the question. How would a Grimm work in the twenty first century. Working with a black ops group would answer all the question about how they could get away with killing wesen. But then after one season they abandon that concept. A concept that saw the redefining of major characters. My question is if they used season 5 to establish HW is the new Grimm in town. Why not end the season that way. Nick was suppose to represent the future. HW was shown as a modern mechanized operation. Yet they end the series with The Grimm using age old methods to solve the biggest problem ever seen on the show. Even the epilogue has the next generation working from the trailer. Even if it does have a modern appearance.
So what was the purpose of season 5. Why did they even create HW. The one thing I can think of. The writers where saying if HW became the norm, wesen would no longer be fairy tales. Especially with them ending on a season with such a high level of fantasy.
