The question for a modern Hopkins would be how to make a living killing witches/wessen. Working for the Royals, working for the Council, being paid by the victims' enemies, being paid by the locals to leave town? Renard said the wessen way was a more primal world. Who would fault the guy/gal for using their natural talents to pay the rent and afford a good life, except for the relatives of the deceased, of course?(02-25-2019, 05:48 PM)FaceInTheCrowd Wrote: The real life Matthew Hopkins ran up a death toll of about 300 people. Whether in real life or the fantasy universe of Grimm, nobody could kill that many people in a developed-world country without attracting the attention of law enforcement.
If the series ever brought Matthew Hopkins into Nick's world, I don't think he would be indiscriminately killing many wesen just to live up to his reputation. The reputation would speak for itself. Whether it would have been Hopkins or some other uber grimm, I thought it would have been interesting to see a completely different type enter the series. It's easy for the series to establish a pattern of grimms with Nick and company because the ones we see are related to him.
