We don't know what hexenbiests like Henrietta and Elizabeth have done either to show the control they have to ever work with a Grimm/help a Grimm. We honestly can't make any assumptions based on a handful of characters over the course of six years in one American city and the Austria if we count Frau Pech. Villain Adalind was compounded by the rejection of both mother and lover and she spiraled even deeper into the role of villain, vindictive and destructive and that was without her powers. Clearly it's possible to be a hexenbiest without ruining lives everywhere you turn as seen by Henrietta and Elizabeth. Perhaps that came with age and experience, we don't know.
Adalind has something that neither hexenbiest did, a life without her powers, so instead of her powers being stripped from her, now it's from a choice even if it's temporary. Whatever her emotional journey, she's had a glimpse that her powers are not the be all and end all of who she was as a person. Having something or rather someones to live for besides herself certainly made things easier for Adalind to choose a different path from the one we saw in the earlier seasons.
