No doubt Adalind is winging it and doing the best she can at being a nurturing mother, but isn’t her being clueless to Diana’s apparent comfort with morbid and ethereal topics indicative of Adalind not grasping the responsibilities of a mother? Shouldn’t her first priority be to prevent any further unhealthy/unsafe influence/intrusion? And not invite it to live at her daughter’s new home?
I understand why Adalind thinks what she has now is much better than before, but the reality is that everyone around her has believed they knew what was best for Diana and disregarded her as Diana’s mother. Add to that, Diana has already been taken multiple times for personal benefit.
I guess my problem is understanding Adalind’s rationale and perspective of her situation. I can’t understand why she wouldn’t be suspicious of everyone around her to the point of being paranoid and causing conflict between her and the group. Not suggesting the group is blatantly expressing suspicious behavior, just that anything/anyone should be suspect to Adalind at this point.
But on the flipside, Adalind is being left out of the loop about the stick, cloth, and Diana’s possible connection. So what happens if she finds out? Will Adalind’s complete trust in Nick be shattered or will she continue to roll with the flow? If Adalind learns Nick and Juliette have been discussing Diana and Kelly’s prediction about her future and possible connection with Nick, will she have a hair-raising flashback or is she just as likely to wave it off because she can’t accept Nick isn’t loyal to her?
