Renard didn’t want to be involved in a murder trial that could go on for months/years, nor did he want to explain why his fingerprints were all over Rachael’s bedroom. Had Adalind’s children been her priority, she wouldn’t have wanted that either. But Adalind willing to perjure herself for Nick confirms who comes first with her.
The fact that the charges were dropped against Sean in a day due to BC helping Sean supports Adalind's viewpoint. IMO Adalind was putting her children first since she wanted both of her children to have their father. Sean wanted to murder Nick then but Kelly should have a father too.
Women characters do not have to be having sex with the lead to be important to the story.
