SEan has been shown to care about Adalind. It showed in his statement about she must have really fallen hard for Nick. Then again on the roof when Nick said Adalind comes with me. If Sean didn't care he would not have had to think about it. If Sean did not care about Adalind he would not have agreed to her objections.
There is no romantic feelings between them. But he does respect her and wants her friendship. But he does not trust her. He knows she can be extremely cunning. Just like the conversation in the truck. He said if I didn't know better I would believe you. To which she replied don't mock me.
That is the problem I have with Nick and Adalind it just seems strange that a flip of the switch she can turn off her cunning nature. Especially when we see it exist while she is at the mansion.
