No, he may have told Adalind why he wouldn’t, but either way he would have ended the conversation. But Adalind approaches her relationship with Nick much like she did with Renard - if she does whatever to make him happy he’ll love her. Even with Nick, and in a supposedly safe, caring environment, Adalind has never stood up for herself and taken charge.
I thought about this during the coffee shop scene. Nick should have been having that conversation with Adalind, along with bringing her up to date on everything else he’s kept from her. When the conflicts began, Nick has supplied Adalind with ample ammunition to believe he never loved her and was using her. Whether Adalind will finally stand up for herself is yet to be seen. But I don’t see Adalind reverting to her old ways. No matter how angry or hurt she may be, I don’t think she’d ever want to bring that into her children’s lives.
