You’re suggesting Nick should protect himself and the family be damned. Which is pretty much what he did. Why even bother to save the baby if he wasn’t even going to try to help avoid the horrible vision from becoming reality? All Nick did was relieve himself of any direct responsibility after learning of the Wesen’s vision.
