Religious faith doesn't seem to play much of a role in Grimm. The only character who has ever asserted any religious belief has been Monroe, who told Nick in the pilot that his family went to church. Theories based on religious lore have been discussed a number of times on the show, but ultimately things have almost always turned out to be perfectly natural wesen activity (the exceptions: the Golem, Eve's recent glimpse of someone's soul apparently dropping into Hell, and probably Volcanalis, who we never saw woge into a human person). So any religious aspects of the stick are likely, based on past history, going to turn out to have been attributed to it by people who just couldn't think of any other way to explain it.
