That show throws away the book of a safe character.Game of thrones is built around "safe" characters dying in every season because it's what drives the story. Most of television still focuses on the characters first and not the story, hence some shows struggling after their main characters leaving or dying because so much was centered around them.
No one being safe on Game of Thrones was true at first but not many of the main cast have actually died over the seasons. There was an episode titled "Cripple, Bastards, and Broken Things" in season 1 and that is a huge hint to who will survive until the final arc. Pretty much every character who fits this description has survived. Every character who was crippled, raped, or maimed has survived except for one but that character died in season 1. There were two characters in particular that I knew wouldn't die once they survived season 3.
Not to mention, any character post season 1 that either started in Essos or went there was safe from death because their deaths would have no impact on the story. The one whose story started there was never in danger of dying and the two characters who went there at the end of season 4 were guaranteed a free pass until they got back to Westeros and they most likely won't die any time soon once they return.
