And to that, I will pose these questions.
Why does Zerstorer possess such longevity? You can say magic, and that might be true, but Eve couldn't work magic in the other dimension.
You say Zerstorer simply killed anyone who got in his way, yet there are wesen who do the same thing. Why didn't they all gang up on him and kill him? He didn't always have that staff.
Was Zerstorer banished to the other dimension or did he have skilled scientific knowledge to locate the portal and escape? If he escaped, how did he he figure out he could look through the portal and see Eve and Nick?
The series made it plain that Nick could not take his shard with him to the other dimension. Yet Zerstorer has all of the other pieces, in the other dimension, with him. How could he do what Nick could not?
Zerstorer is the one who pieced the staff back together, minus the piece Nick possesses. Presumably all of the pieces, like Nick's, were hidden. How did Zerstorer find them?
Usually something that's magic doesn't work if it has been broken. Yet Zerstorer not only manages to piece the staff back together as incomplete, it also does his bidding. How did he know all of this?
How did Zerstorer find out he could simply hitchhike back to the present with Nick?
The questions can't be answered because we just don't know the when's, why's, or how's. But, in my opinion, one thing is certain. For Zerstorer to even be around all this time and stay alive in a wild land, that takes a great intelligence. So, in theory, Nick's already beaten. He's just a puny thug.
So what does the series do? Dumb Zerstorer down to dumb thug status so Nick's even with him and can use the blood of the Grimm to defeat him. I agree with you that once Zerstorer sets foot in Nick's world, he's nothing more than an imbecilic hulk who can't even speak English but can only repeat what's told to him. It was the complete waste of what could have been the greatest villain Nick ever faced.
The other major stupidity with this episode is the 'Diana and the hundred babies' episode twist. Why in the world would a creature, who is so powerful, want HER?

The best way to frustrate a cyberbully is to ignore him.
