Whether we might like to admit it or not, we all enter this world basically as sociopaths. We all have to be taught morality, decency, empathy and civility. Pretty much all the things that make civilized life possible.
That's an oversimplified statement if there ever was one. We don't enter the world "basically as sociopaths." A sociopath is someone who lacks a sense of moral responsibility. Would you say a neanderthal was a sociopath, just because they born at a time before "civilization" really kicked in? Of course not. A neanderthal had feelings of attachment and love just as much as any intelligent animal. What you're describing is more along the lines of a schoolyard bully who goes out of his WAY to be a sadistic brute. That's not nature, that's just evil.
