Thanks, Wessenrein! I don't often get people agreeing with me, so it's a nice feeling to read when they do.
Quote:Bud: good supporting character, the friendly, helpful guy, a bit of a cowardly lion type but will show courage when it's really needed. I don't see this character changing much, no need, he is who he is.
I like Bud for who he is too. The one thing I don't think he needs to be is the comic relief. I feel it's unfair to the character for one thing. For another, Grimm doesn't do comedy well.
Quote:Hank and Wu: These two are also good supporting characters but the only evolving that has been done with them was bringing them both into the Wesen world. I don't see much change for them either, maybe a girlfriend for one or both, they will remain loyal to Nick and fight by his side.
In the Hour of Death episode, Nick is going after the kidnapper with a crossbow loaded with truth serum. He never makes it as the kidnapper is killed beforehand. What I really liked about this episode was Hank's reaction to what Nick was about to do; force a confession out of the kidnapper.
Hank has to take a lot of what Nick says at face value. You know, his typical question: "Was it a wesen?" To which Nick replies: "Yeah".
Maybe what Grimm should be doing is trying to figure out a way Hank can be more useful to the cases. There has to be more to knowing wesen are around than Nick confirming he saw them. How does Hank know if Nick is lying or not?
I'm not a big fan of Wu, I always thought he was kind of a pest and the whole rug eating episode did nothing for his character, in my opinion. However, Wu has an orderly mind. He always seems to be thinking: He was the one who questioned the unsolved murders in Nick's reports. In the last episode it seemed to me he was just thrilled to be in the presence of the scoobies. I would like to see his thinking processes put to work, rather than bask in their glory.
Quote:Monroe and RosaLee: These two have had some subtle development, we did see and hear a little bit about their pasts, RosaLee's addiction, Monroe's blutbad issues, and since they've gotten married, they've suffered racial attacks and the Wessenrein trial which has made them a bit more aggressive even if it is subtle.
The issue I see with Rosalee and Monroe is that they are Nick's resources. That's about it. Wouldn't it be nice to see what Rosalee does on a day to day basis and who she deals with? For instance, can she treat wesen addictions? Can she treat injuries?
I know Monroe fixes watches and clocks. Does he work in a mall or a jewelry store? Does he have his own business? We don't know because he's only really shown when Nick needs him.
Quote:Renard: We've seen a little bit of his life, his family, the Royals, and his mother. He's bounced back and forth from bad to good, been possessed by Jack the Ripper in a near death experience, so he's dealing with being a murderer by proxy and he turned on his familky, realizing the giving them the kind of power their searching for was a bad idea for everybody. He's come along quite nicely and I expect more from him.
I didn't like the Jack the Ripper thing, but for the most part, I do agree with you about Renard. He's one of the more sophisticated characters in Grimm.
Quote:Adalind: Similar to Renard, Adalind has gone from bad to seemingly good, we'll see if that lasts but I think it will. Adalind, as a Hexenbeist, was as nasty a character as you'll find, but now, after losing her powers and having two kids, she's starting to change and I think that continues to evolve. So, I think we're starting to see her character develpment.
I've never liked Adalind from day one. It's annoying to me that she's heading toward being a redeemed character while Juliette was ostracized and didn't do a tenth of the harm that Adalind did. I absolutely did not like her and Nick together in this last episode. He had little chemistry with Juliette but zero with Adalind.
Quote:Finally, Nick: We've seen ANick evlove in terms of learning what he is, a Grimm. He's been pulled into the Wesen world and having to learn on the fly, since he previously knew nothing about that world. He's had to juggle a relationship, a day job, and being a Grimm, not easy. Having said all that, I do feel Nick's character has been a bit bland. He hasn't always felt like the MAIN character, at times, it's sort of felt more like a team effort and that's fine for the most part but I think you do need the MAIN character of the show to standout a bit more. Now, I do believe Nick will show further development, with the loss of his mother and Juliette, and him becoming a father, plus, the possibility of a relationship between he and Adalind.
Good point about him being a bland character. I see that he hasn't changed a whole lot. He's still into doing things his own way and breaking about a thousand laws in the process.
Quote:Honorable Mention, Trubel: We don't yet know if Trubel is going to remain as regular character or not, at least I don't know? I hope she does, she's captured the fans with her toughness but i think there's a lot of potential to really develop her character. We learned a little bit about her past but that chess piece is still a mystery and I hope it's explained.
I like Trubel. The issue I see with her character is that she continually steals Nick's scenes. He's supposed to be the main Grimm in all of this, but I find myself watching her because she is an interesting character.
The best way to frustrate a cyberbully is to ignore him.
