There were a couple of posts that speculated why the thread was posted in the first place. One cited an article regarding the creepiness of Nick and Adalind's relationship. The second post, in response to the first, stated the thread was posted because it's a polarizing issue. In other words, as there are people that do not support the Nick/Adalind relationships.
With respect to the posters, neither of these was the reason why I posted the thread. There are a lot of threads in the forum where posters sincerely believe Adalind and Nick should be together. In an effort to understand this pairing, I read through the threads looking for good qualities in Nick and good qualities in Adalind that would make sense to me with regard to their pairing. The only commonality I found between them that was consistent was the baby.
It was interesting to me that most of the comments about Adalind were not positive at all. Nick really didn't come off any better. All he has is chemistry.
No one mentioned good qualities about either character that could bond them together and strengthen their relationship.
There were some interesting comments about destiny. For example, when Adalind woged for Nick for the first time, Adalind shows up when Nick is about to propose to Juliette, then she shows up again and drops the news she's having his baby and he prevents an altercation between her and Juliette.
There were comments that they could grow to love one another because of the life they share and connections they develop. They could develop a good trusting relationship that could save both of them. These are nice compliments about the two of them.
But then, the inevitable happened. The thread digressed to Adalind's bad side, Juliette's bad side, Nick's bad side, the scoobies, the scoobies' bad sides, Adalind vs Juliette, Juliette vs Adalind, Juliette vs the scoobies, Juliette vs the world, who hates who, who likes who, Henrietta, ratings, etc. We even managed to throw in the possibility of a woman as a side tryst for Nick to make it all complete. I'm not standing on the road as the bandwagon passes by on this. I jumped right on with my thoughts.
But 7 pages later, there really hasn't been a lot of examples to who reasons why Nick and Adalind should be together. It seems to me, as one who chimed in, that it's easier to discuss everything else.
Is that what it comes down to? Neither one has any real good qualities so the writers put them together because they deserve one another? JS has written in other posts that he views Grimm as a total fantasy. In real life something like this would never work. But I suppose it could in a fantasy one.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and all of Grimmdom. Your first comment urged me to see what Wikipedia has to say. I found it interesting:
