I actually thought that was why they were bringing him back, but I also really, really like Nick and Adalind as a couple. I see way more chemistry between Nick and Adalind than I ever saw between he and Juliette.
Chemistry or no chemistry, the writers have left themselves with a serious ethical problem in Nick and Adalind's relationship, no matter how hard they try to ignore it. If you condone their romance, you're indirectly condoning rape, even if it's fictional rape.
Hmm...
I see your point, but you can look at it a lot of different ways.
First, rape is condoned in a lot of literature from Ayn Rand to the texts of world religions, so in that respect they aren't exactly breaking new ground or violating some great taboo.
Secondly, it was rape by a fictional form of deception that wouldn't have an analog in the real world, so I'm not sure everyone would even see it as rape.
Thirdly, Adalind's hexenbeast is like another person living in her body, so if you blame it on the hexenbeast and Adalind now wants to shed that part of herself, they can be viewed as two separate entities/individuals. If you think of it that way Nick is falling in love with the "real" Adalind who had nothing to do with all the horrible things her hexenbeast counterparts did.
I found it very telling when Nick told Adalind she was his "first" and she said he was her "first" too in reference to the first time he saw her vogue in the very first episode.
I also think seeing Adalind share stuff like her less than ideal childhood and her desire to contribute have made her a lot more likable.
And like I wrote in the earlier post, I have always felt like Nick and Adalind had more chemistry than Nick and Juliette or even Adalind and Renard for that matter.
I'm not getting into the rape debate.
I would ask when Nick took Adalind powers would anyone think that in someway might be a rape also?
