That tells me that Sansa still has a story to play out with Littlefinger. The actual story has her staying in the Vale learning from him. She didn't get pawned off to Ramsay so it's understandable she still has some weird relationship with the guy who got her out of King's Landing and is sheltering her. The show royally screwed that up because she had no reason to not order Brienne to cut him down because she can't possibly believe that he would do anything to help her. She had no reason to believe he wouldn't just betray her again and give her back to Ramsay since that's what he did in the first place. Sansa should've attempted to contact Lord Royce herself.
Sansa was supposed to have a training arc like Arya and Bran. The showrunners didn't have the patience for it so they immediately put her in WF, raped her, and empowered her without getting the training arc which she needed just as much as them. Arya's arc wasn't handled well either and Bran was only shown in that cave for three episodes so it was rushed but at least they got some training despite the sloppy execution. Sansa ceased being a character the moment they had her decide to marry a Bolton.
