Why work with Eve then? For that matter, why pretend to trust them then? It was obvious he was never going to become an HW operative. He already had the opportunity of a lifetime waiting for him by working for Renard.

Eve was ill and there is a difference in having her in the fome where Adalind can keep an eye on her versus Nick going out on various assignments for HW and Adalind being faced with the unknown. She wasn't happy when he had to leave because Eve called him. She would not have liked Nick working for HW.
