This is the Adalind that was not repetitive of what she had done to Nick, Juliette, Kelly’s sister, Aunt Marie and even what she tried to do with Diana, when she was still unborn, un-named and used as a bargaining pawn with the Royals. This is NOT the Adalind we see after baby Kelly is born. This is still, Adalind 1.0, not the Adalind 2.0 we get after Kelly is born in S5 & 6.
This Adalind is not a deserving mother. As much as you wish to claim that no one had the right to kidnap her child, I guess in your world, no state in the USA or other civilized nations, where their respective government has some form of a Child Protective Agency, which has the power to remove children from abusive or un-attentative parents, do not exist. What Sean, Kelly and Nick did, with the rest of the gang, was the same thing a Child Protective Agency would do, with an unfit mother, they just did it outside the law, but still morally correct.
What Nick did, as a third stringer, with the consent and participation of the child’s father, Sean, was not very noble but neither is any government agency any more noble, when they remove custody of a child from an abusive family. It’s not noble, it’s what has to be done.
Somehow, for some strange reason, you stick up for an irresponsible, unfit of a mother, Adalind is, at this point of the game, yet you put her down when she does have her epiphany and becomes the responsible and caring mother we see in S5 & 6.
Is this your fair and unbiased opinion of Nick and Adalind, at this phase of the TV Show? I don’t think so!
Adalind’s past or that she wouldn’t be a good mother might have been their justification for kidnapping Diana but it wasn’t the driving force. Their stated reason was Kelly wanting the child’s powers under her control, no one wanting the Royals to have control of her powers, and Viktor threatening to cut a bloody path until Renard handed over the baby. If the baby’s wellbeing was ever the issue, no one could have been content believing the Royals had her in S5. I don’t recall any of them ever mentioning their concern for Diana during S5.
I simply noted that the show presented the start of Adalind’s transition from immature, selfish, and retaliatory to devoted and loving mother in S3E14. Nothing was presented that suggested Adalind wasn’t committed to doing whatever was necessary to keep her child safe. However, the show did present that Adalind had no desire to ever return to Portland or see Renard and the Grimm gang again. She was determined to move on from the past and make a life for her & Diana. In S3, Adalind chose to become a better person and loving and protective mother because of Diana. Nick and the others interrupted and derailed that commitment.
In S5 the show wanted Adalind’s transition from bad to good to be about her falling in love with Nick. But in order to accept that, one must pretend Adalind’s progression didn’t begin and Nick didn’t disrupt it S3, and that the only reason Adalind & Diana were together in S5 & S6 was that another nefarious group reunited them.
I’m not sticking up for an irresponsible or unfit mother. Nor have I had an opinion of Nick & Adalind one way or another. I have said over and over and over that I’ve never cared who either character hooked up with. I’ve only discussed Adalind’s S3 determination to keep Diana with her compared to her lack of interest in Diana while with Nick in S5. And for me, how great Nick is or how great Nick/Adalind are doesn’t justify Adalind’s digression in S5. I’m never going to get on board the Nick’s actions are always justified train, nor give much credence to the bad girl being saved by the love of a good man arguments. Adalind is either a fleshed out character in her own right or she’s not worth discussing. So if all Adalind came to be is dependent on her becoming worthy of Nick’s, or any man’s love, then she doesn’t merit discussion any more than any prop requires examination.

You offer reasons Adalind didn’t reach out to Meisner that she was not aware of for months. I questioned why she didn’t reach out before being aware that Meisner had Diana.
I never scratched my head about why Adalind didn't reach out to Meisner.
Adalind started spending time with Nick since he became papa number two.
At the time, she trusted Nick to some degree but not enough to confide in him completely based on what was depicted. She was keeping her own secrets, making decisions independent of Nick and giving information to him piecemeal.
Absolutely. The character would have considered the possibility that Sean was being truthful as well. If it was true, Meisner had chosen not to reunite her with her daughter. He had been coolly calculating and deceitful. He came over to the fome but did not mention Diana to her nor did he ever reach out to her at any point aside from when he needed to save Trubel. She would imagine that he didn’t have any compassion for her since he kept her in the dark but informed Sean. His loyalty was to the resistance and Sean. Maybe Sean, Meisner and the resistance had been planning to take Diana from her as soon as they could all along.
The show didn’t even present Adalind struggling over the decision to risk her arrangement with Nick for an opportunity to get Diana back, or at least away from the Royals. Adalind was only presented as wanting a relationship and being whatever Nick needed in order to have that relationship. And while a docile, compliant Adalind makes a good partner for Nick, it doesn’t even hint at the character’s S3 & S4 characterization.
So I say again, if all Adalind came to be is dependent on her becoming worthy of Nick’s, or any man’s love, then she doesn’t merit discussion any more than any prop requires examination.
