I have to say, I like Coulson the best. Melinda May is a close second. Makes me wish they skewed the cast just a tad bit older. (It wouldn't have killed them to switch out one of the brainiacs for someone in his or her thirties.) The younger cast members still feel "off" to me -- they just don't have a lot of oomph at this point -- although they're getting better too. Some shows just take a few episodes to get their worst kinks out. The writing has definitely improved now that we don't have to endure loads of info dumps.
I liked the reveal of the bad guy on this one, especially since it wasn't a "one and done" episode -- there are indeed puppet masters at work.
As for the weirdness about Coulson, I've heard a few theories about that, including the one where he's a
