He might have heard, but unless the writers are going to make up a history six seasons later, the gold band doesn't have a history other than Renard has worn it all this time for no apparent reason.

Both rings may be in the desk drawer and Renard hasn't had time to find them. The scene escalated rather quickly, there wasn't a reason for Renard to rummage through his desk drawers.
The Royal ring is still tied to Renard's heritage whether it's brought up or not, but the gold band's history may be ignored because it's no longer needed for the story. Or they'll make something up.
