The only reason Wu and Hank were later mentioned is because Nick demanded they get their jobs back as well. Renard added them to the detectives who worked undercover. Police can do an exemplary job without heroics. That's why when Nick and company returned, the precinct welcomed them back. There was hoopla because Nick was coming back, not because he was hero. It was never revealed that he did anything heroic.
In episode 603, Nick as "Renard" told the TV reporters (on camera):
"The recent manhunt for Detective Nick Burkhardt was actually an undercover investigation staged to bring the real killer to justice. Now, since this is an ongoing investigation, I cannot further comment, but I would like to thank Detective Burkhardt for his exemplary work and congratulate him on a job well done."
And after a reporter asked if he had anything else to add, he said:
"Only that detective Burkhardt and his partner, Detective Griffin and, of course, Sergeant Wu did an exemplary job."
What you are referring to is the exchange between the two Renards after their fight on the roof. But really all that was just confirming the position that Nick's public appearance had already boxed Renard into.
Another possible interpretation of the scene is that the precinct was cheering Nick, Hank and Wu because deep down they really disliked Renard and were happy to see the return of officers Renard had forced out.
