I don’t think preferring a Wesen of the Week format over character-driven episodes or arcs constitutes a shallow viewer. The preference is simply that - a personal preference in viewing pleasure.
Given the writers’ level of expertise in character development & character-driven plots, they should have held fast to the Wesen of the Week format.
Episode 5.5 pretty much establishes two plot lines running parallel in an episode easily fell flat. The Wesen of the Week/the Rat King was underwhelming and most of the complaints concerning the Nick/Trubel plot were about Nick dropping the ball when it came to keeping Trubel safe.
So yea, maybe they should keep it simple and not take characters outside their established comfort zones unless they can wrap up the conflict in an episode or two.

Quote:Stuff like that will put you in the Shallow Viewer Club. That cost you two cents.
