Hexens are very self-centered--and by "self" I mean themselves and their offspring. They'll do whatever they need to get what they want, but without really any regard for others or for side effects. Zaubers are more adept at playing others in a political way and able to see past their immediate needs and make plays that work for them in the long run.
I agree with most of what you say, especially as it pertains to Renard. And although I know I'm asking for it in saying it, I feel Adalind is very intelligent and been the cause of almost all of the drama among most of the main characters on the show. But being a Hexenbiest, consideration of the other guy's point of view isn't her strong suit, hence mayhem results from most of her machinations. She'll get more politic as she mentally and emotionally matures as an H, imo, but if that maturity (such as considering the long-term affects of her actions) doesn't kick in soon, then, big surprise, I'm wrong again.

Perhaps because he's part Royal, Renard has a considerable amount of authority in Portland - which he's said is his 'canton' in a past episode. He's challenged and indeed, physically chastened, wesen he considered as invading his turf without permission. Imo, that constitutes the ability to back up his claims with action, a sign of real strength. He's never been bested in a physical confrontation as far as I can remember, and there have a been some. Think it was Monroe who cautioned Renard and others to put on their wesen faces when they went into battle together, so I think he's stronger in his wesen form. Adalind has been beaten in a fight by both Nick and Juliette (admit these instances are special circumstances), and she seems to avoid physical means as a way of reaching her goals, as did her mother. Although we don't have much knowledge of other Zauberbiests, these are the reasons I feel they may be stronger than Hexenbiests.
We have to also remember that Sean is only half-Zauberbiest.
