Teaser refers to the portion of a TV show that comes just before the main theme. It's kind of obsolete in today's TV, where we sometimes see the theme at the very beginning, or where there is no actual theme and the credits just roll under the action. But in the days before streaming and time shifting when viewers had to choose between two shows running at the same time on different channels, they often started episodes with a mini-cliffhanger to try to grab audience interest and head off possible channel changes.
In an alert situation, the captain would want to enter the bridge and receive status reports as quickly as possible. Ideally, the bridge crew would have been trained to know what order the captain would want reports in and they'd rattle off status without having to be asked. If there's a goof here, it's not having people already at the science and navigator stations reporting status and then stepping aside to let Spock and Mitchell take over.
