I saw Pike in the pilot episode. I wasn't real impressed with his portrayal, but I think part of that was due to the fact that I was already used to Captain Kirk and liked him much better. As for Jack Lord, I was a fan of Hawaii Five-O for its entire run. He was great as McGarrett, but as the Captain? I have a feeling the portrayal would be more along the line of Jeffrey Hunter and I would have ditched Star Trek.
Picard seemed to be more along the stoic captain line, and while I enjoyed the Next Generation, I felt it lacked in the spontaneous department as well. I will agree with reviews of Shatner's performances going into the ultra ham category, but his Captain Kirk is still the best in my opinion. Maybe being a ham was what it took to make him seem more human, in my opinion.
Regarding the Enemy Within, however, I would have liked the dual Captains to be more attuned to the man they once completed. Kirk A is really too weak and undecisive and Kirk B is a mental case rapist.

The best way to frustrate a cyberbully is to ignore him.
