The fact that it even raised moral issues tells me it was a good episode, thought provoking. "The Enemy Within" had Kirk split in two by the transporter. This was the episode where Spock leers at Rand and referring to Kirk's assault on Rand with the intent of rape as an interesting quality.
While this episode was really made to put the spotlight on Shatner's acting abilities, it also raises some questions in my mind about how a computer is able to split a person in half based upon good and evil characteristics and why the episode seems to sway toward "evil" characteristics as positive traits.
