The royals wanted Adalind's baby because it was a royal baby. They had no idea that the baby was going to be an uber-hexenbiest. They didn't even know that the baby was Sean's, because Adalind was pitching the story that it was Eric's. After Eric's death, King Freddie wanted his granddaughter, who he expected to be Eric's child, and Viktor - followed by Kenneth - wanted to acquire Diana for him in order to secure status as Freddie's choice to replace Eric as his heir apparent.
The resistance had no particular interest in Adalind's baby at the time, except perhaps for the small victory that denying Freddie something he desired might bring, hence Tavitian's willingness to hire Kelly to carry out Sean's extraction of Adalind and the baby. But Kelly figured that if the royals and the resistance found out what the baby could do, then her powers would make her an object of desire for both.
Not certain what BC thought of Diana. It seemed as if they wanted her mostly as a prop for Sean's mayoral candidacy, and were surprised and unnerved by what she could do. The only people who seemed to be interested in her because of her magical nature were HW and Z, and we never heard either actually say what they had in mind for her.
I know the royals wanted Diana because she was royal. My point was simply that Diana was not a normal child. She was important to the royals, they were desperate to kidnap her, something that was dangerous when she was so powerful. Kelly figured out Diana had an extraordinary destiny because Adalind had gone true the Contaminatio Ritualis to get her powers back. And we know Diana was important to Z. How she was raised was important. It was obviously not something Kelly just made up to kidnap a little girl, that seems to be the argument put forward by Irukandji.
By the way:
Kenneth: “The King's delighted to have his grandchild back. She'll be well rewarded. She's changed the course of history, just so you know”.
“She” is Juliette and I guess “changed the course of history” can be interpreted as they knew something about her abilities.
