A little more time as a 'normal citizen' would be ideal, even if not realistic, considering her age. But she's there right now and will have to jump into the fray; it's what Kelly and Marie had to do. Interestingly, all the weapons in the trailer do not include any firearms. Kelly doesn't carry, and I got the impression that Marie didn't either. But they sort of had an all-wesen-are-bad-wesen approach to their work, which is very old-school thinking. On the other hand, Nick carries a gun (even though it is a police issue weapon), but his way of interacting with the wesen community is more enlightened and contemporary.
So all things considered, an astute Grimm would probably choose a gun over a blade every time.
Ahh, you forget the elephant gun they used on the seigbarst in season 1!
That's what I was going to say!
Anyway, backing off from Miss Rubel specifically for now, some sort of columnist could work. I was imagining a Grimm reviewing movies tonight, and a new werewolf show comes out and s/he's all, "That is not how the transformation goes at all!" Or you know how some people complain about how much Disney has altered the traditional stories? Yeah, now think of a new Disney show coming out and the Grimm comparing it to the versions in their books.
I've also been wondering whether a kindergarten teacher could work. The kids are too young to wogue and see their Grimmness. So how much of a risk would it be that the parents would wogue around him/her sometime, and how much off-hours work do teachers put in at that level? Would there still be time for the Grimm duties?
