Otherwise, Marie wouldn't have been able to raise Nick and he wouldn't have been able to raise Kelly. Plus, we already know that Kelly and Marie weren't abandoned by their father and he trained them himself since they got their sight at a much earlier age than Nick. Not everyone needs to make the same choice as Kelly and even she left Nick in the care of another Grimm so just being one wasn't the problem.
I don't think anyone said a person couldn't be a grimm and a parent. Although why they'd want to take on both, and possibly put their kids in danger is beyond me.
However, that wasn't my point. I was questioning why Nick and Juliette felt it necessary to push Trubel into the grimm life. It's apparently not a compelling natural force which tells me she can go with that life or refuse it, if she so chooses.
While I have great difficulty believing a troubled kid wouldn't already know about wesen, I have no issue with Nick and Juliette explaining to Trubel why she sees what she does and why she's being attacked. What I do take issue with is the both of them not offering her other alternatives besides the grimm life. The two of them are taking the position that that's all she's fit for. It's certainly not fair to her, especially if she doesn't have to be a grimm.
