She had to be rescued twice, I believe. Maybe even more than that. I never saw the ice queen persona. I considered her more of a whiner than anything else. As for shallow and addle brained, it was clearly demonstrated when Nick was keeping things from her. Clearly he didn't think she was mature enough to accept the wesen world.

Adalind was a crone who became human then reverted back to being a crone once again. Her tale is just as sad as Juliette's.
