Monroe know who Aunt Marie was because she was such famous Grimm and she was being targeted by reapers for assassination.
IMO Kelly wanted to find out who killed her husband and friend for revenge and to keep the coins safe so she was following the coins and could not live in one place.
Women characters do not have to be having sex with the lead to be important to the story.
