Catherin Schade hadn’t harmed anyone that Nick was aware of, yet, he accompanied his mother while she broke into the woman’s home, stood by while his mother killed the woman, then used his position on the police force to cover up that he and his mother were ever there.
Any involvement or knowledge Catherine had about the attacks on Marie or anyone else were a drop in the bucket compared to Renard. Renard orchestrated the attempt on Marie’s life twice, and the spell/potion that would have killed Hank. Nick didn’t stand back while mommy killed the bad man, then use his connections to cover it up. But Renard’s free pass seems to be about Nick needing a captain who wouldn’t object to his off the book activities.
Nick murders to avenge his mother. Nick arrests a man for murdering to avenge his son. This is not the epitome of moral, this is a man compromised by his anger & heartache just like the rest of us, but who punishes the rest of us. This is a man who has embraced the Grimm methodology of a authoritarian regime. If Nick wanted to be different than other Grimms, he would have worked with the Wesen community in setting up system that guaranteed they would have a voice in dealing with these matters. As it is, Nick plays judge, juror, and executioner, and no one in his group, including the Wesen, has ever questioned it.
