[color=#1E90FF]For certain, the families are active in fomenting trouble around the world as Kelly Burhardt told us some time back. The reason I think they know this specific killing is connected to Renard are:
l. Eric, more than once, told Sean that the families demand that he turn over the key to them and that they are running out of patience and will move on their own soon if he doesn't comply.
2. During his one-sided phone conversation with he father, the king, Eric mentioned the families were onboard with this latest campaign and he also eluded to offering someone (either Renard or possibly Nick) some kind of a deal, with the hope it would be acceptd.
3. He did ask Renard to come back into the family during their 'dinner' at his hotel, although he was so duplicitous maybe it was all a ruse.
4. And, of course, the assassination of Eric immediately after the failed attempt to bring the Grimm and the key back to Austria is a big red flag.
I think they'll be on the Captain like ducks on a June bug - with this qualifier - it's too early in the series to have a huge confrontation between Sean, Nick and the rest of the gang and all the resources of the seven families. We'd lose our Grimm and our Captain and that won't do.

i can't wait for kelly to come back, and she hasn't destroyed the coins, i wonder why? what is stopping her??i
Me, too, seem to remember her commenting that it was going to be difficult to get back to the island (?) where they were forged and the only place they could be destroyed. Maybe she has to throw a lot of people off her trail who are still looking for the coins. I know it's unlikely for reasons already discussed, for a reappearance of Farley Kolt, but it would be great. The good news is that there is going to be quite a convergence of Wesen and Grimm folk heading for Portland soon
