Adalind has gotten more interesting to me as they allowed her to develop a personality as a housewife. It may bore you but at least it bring the character somewhat to life. I sort of like the conflict between living off of Nick and wanting to be more independent. At least that is a real thought and realistic situation as is the baby throwing up, crying etc.
Juliette never had that. She was supposed to be a vet, but how? We hardly ever saw her at work or references to it except as plot devices. Family, nope don’t know about that. She was so undeveloped that Nick did not even seem to notice she was dead, just pack up the house, give her car to your new snuggle bunny and whatever.
I think the show was much improved with the death of Juliette, bringing her back, I have no interest in. Oh I forgot she is now Juliette 2.0 or Eve 1.0. Whatever, I think it was a horrible, albeit predictable move, that in my view has doomed the series. What is next some lame “40 of D” (oops I meant “7 of 9”) bullcrap where she tried to develop emotions and relate to people again?
It was a given. After we saw Renard come back from the dead, I knew that the way was clear to bring Juliette back. And it was obvious that they were going to bring her back, despite their protestations to the contrary.
I didn't really care if they brought Juliette or Eve or whatever she is back or not. But, since they did and since they want to use her as some kind of weapon, so be it. That said, when they did that extremely disappointing finale a few weeks back just so Nick could look oh so surprised and mutter, "Juliette"!, I knew right off that that was not going to happen. Instead the predictable. The lobotomized or not lobotomized Eve will confront Nick who will somehow get it through his head this is no longer Juliette or it is still Juliette. Then he'll be so peeved that she's running around alive he'll either work himself into some kind of frenzy to bring her back or he'll join the uprising to get at her. Adalind will of course be fretting during this time period and contemplating whether she really wants her hexenbiests (there are two of them) to vacate or not.
If these idiots wanted Bitsie back to badly then they should do something they never did with Juliette. Give her her own story. Make it so she is someone in this uprising. Someone of importance. Not a backdrop to Meisner like she was to Nick. To me, bringing back a powerful hexenbiest in an uprising makes perfect sense. But make her separate and apart from Nick. I'd be happy if they never came across each others' paths again.
Now on to Adalind. I've never liked that character. She's a failure, even as a skank. But at least she was a hexenbiest. So what do the Grimm boy writers do? Make her into mommy dearest. Get her pregnant because Claire is really pregnant. So that was extremely clever. This way they can leave her pregnant and take away her hexenbiest so she'll be all so appealing as human. As a result, she's completely dependent upon Nick. Problem is it isn't interesting. She's still being promoted as a failure, only she's boring now. Maybe that was her punishment for raping him. She's relegated to what the stereotypical Grimm writers see as a human woman, completely dependent, formerly barefoot and pregnant, with hormones thrown in now and then. Now she's just barefoot with infant, with hormones thrown in now and then.
I have nothing against family, or family shows. However, I have never seen Grimm as a family hour. You saw what they did with Diana. The writers thought it would be cool for Adalind to have a baby. Then they didn't know what to do with said baby. So they gave her to of all people, Kelly. Who didn't guess that we wouldn't see Diana for a long while after that? She has come in and out of the story every now and then just so the audience knew she was still around. And every now and then we have Adalind sighing, looking wistfully into the night and 'hoping' Diana is okay.
This is to remind us of two things. That Diana is still part of the storyline, even though we rarely see her. Also, that Adalind really does care, even though she currently doesn't lift a toenail to do anything about it.
Bringing one baby into this show was disastrous enough. So instead of going back to the old Grimm, what do they do? Bring a new baby in. My mother used to say it and it's true. When shows start messing up characters that shouldn't be married or have babies by all of the sudden having them get married and have babies, the shows don't last.
And if you don't believe me, consider the king of Grimms himself, Nick. Remember in the promos for this season, we were treated to spoilers that Nick was going to be leaner, meaner, vengeance filled, kick ass, breaking away from the cops, ignoring Monroe and Rosalee and doing his own mercenary thing? Have you seen that? In fact, I was surprised (pleasantly so) that he actually followed police procedure on the most recent case.
I figured it probably wasn't coming. Why? How can he be this kick ass vengeance guy and have supporting skank and baby at home waiting for him? He can't. He isn't even allowed to be outraged at Adalind for raping him because it was magic, not rape.
I will really be surprised if there even is an uprising now. And I would really like to see that. That would make sense with all of these wesen and hexenbiests wandering about.
But in my real honest opinion, if they killed off both Eve/Juliette and Adalind/boring person I think the series ratings would go up substantially.
The best way to frustrate a cyberbully is to ignore him.
