Harry Potter - grimmfreak - 06-09-2014

any other big HP fans out there?
If so who's your favorite character and why?
Mine has to be Snape because he's so tragic and conflicted, really the most interesting character in the series.

Neville

Snape, for sure. He has the most complex storyline, one of the more tragic, and still remains an unlikeable, deeply flawed character.

Luna and Hermione are probably my next favorites. Luna, because she's always going to the beat of her own drum and Hermione because intelligent heroes seem to be scarce.

Luna is awesome.

For the record, I think the movies got it right in 'shipping her and Neville. I am an unabashed dork for this, I know.

No, I agree with this big time, Neville and Luna were meant for each other.

Also, anyone else absolutely ecstatic to hear about the new HP film: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them?

Also, here is speculation that the WB has scheduled 2 other release dates for new HP films.

Snape.

Indeed Snape had the most tragic story, but I always felt he followed his own code so ultimately was not conflicted about the side and path he choose to tread, he wanted/needed to atone for his perceived sins which he believed drove Lily away from him. He clearly disliked Harrys father intensely, and perhaps some of that transferred to Harry, but he also loved Lily and on some level that likewise transferred to Harry as well. However, when Snape got to be around, teach and protect Harry and I believe he came to have strong paternal feelings for the boy.

Luna Lovegood is my favorite character. She's a different character which makes her amazing.

RE: Harry Potter - speakeasy - 08-09-2014

Snape, because he was a completely unsung hero. He seemed to have more suffering in his life than the all the other characters; even Harry. He was a very misunderstood person by almost everyone, he lost Lily to James, who bullied him in school and made him an object of ridicule among his peers, and his best defender and the only person he seemed to revere, Dumbledore, used his loyalty to make him slay him. That must have been the most painful act of all to him. It seems like everything he did after her death, was to strike a blow against the one who killed his darling Lily.

My second choice is Hermoine. She had the greatest line in 'The Deathly Hallows' when Harry remarks upon her brilliance: "Actually, I'm highly logical, which allows me to look past extraneous detail. And perceive clearly of that which others overlook." Smile She's a bit of a bossy sort, but Ron and Harry are well aware of her value to their little company!
