That was what upset the wessenrine, some wessen were intermixing among themselves and even with nonwessen. When Monroe and Rosalee where at the Raven and Rose, a friend of Monroe's came up with his date/girlfriend/wife. When Nick asked, Monroe said she wasn't wessen. Marie was engaged to a wessen, that would have been a major issue for most of the wessen and also the the council if it had known.

I believe that two family kept it in secret , mainly because they would not want others stuck in the matter.
