Could a Grimm have been one of the leaders of the crusaders?

The royals used grimms to control wesen who fought for them, so if the royal families were sending wesen soldiers in response to the Pope's call, the grimms would have been in charge of them. I don't know what chain of command would have been in place in the 13th century, so no idea if they might also have been in charge of non-wesen soldiers, or if there would have been higher ranking people on the ships giving the grimms orders.

I suppose it's also possible that grimms didn't go in their capacity as wesen controllers, but just as individual crusader knights. But if they were working for royals at the time they would presumably have had to get their patrons' approval to go, and if I had been a royal I don't think I would have wanted my grimms going off to foreign lands if I had wesen at home I needed controlled.

We know the seven royal families sent their seven Grimms and wesen to fight in the war. But I'm thinking that, at the time, they would have only been a small fraction of the troops that were expected for the crusade. There would have had to have been Grimms who were outside of the jurisdiction of the royals, just like there were crusaders who were outside of the rule of the royals. I'm wondering if any of those Grimms were involved, and if any were leaders of the crusaders.
