RE: Adalind vs. Juliette/Eve - FaceInTheCrowd - 03-17-2017

Let's assume for a moment that Adalind's body totally became Juliette's.

Juliette isn't at her most fertile at the time Adalind took samples of her hair, or Juliette is taking birth control pills or has an implant. Adalind becomes a Juliette who is highly unlikely to become pregnant.

Adalind leaves the house after sex with Nick and changes back to herself. Nick's little swimmers are still inside her. And she forgot to take her own pill that morning. Or a side effect of the spell is that it acts like an antibiotic and her next day's pill is neutralized. One of Nick's swimmers reaches target.

Mission accomplished.

Nope. According to the theory, it wouldn't make any difference if Juliette isn't likely to become pregnant, would it? You and Mary both said it takes some time for egg and sperm to unite, right?

The only way for Adalind to become pregnant is to remain Adalind. The only way she could do that is via illusion, making Nick think it was Juliette he was with.

Nope. Well according to the theory, it wouldn't make any difference what Juliette's body does, would it?

Of course under that theory, Adalind would have no memories of what she did as Juliette. In fact when Adalind became Juliette she would forget her mission.

The only way Adalind could become pregnant was to remain Adalind throughout the whole ordeal. That means she never switched bodies, but instead presented the illusion of Juliette.

Agreed, if they switched bodies then Adalind turned in to Juliette would not remember the mission anyway.

But then it raises another issue. Juliette asked Nick is he knew it was Adalind he was with, to which he replied he did not. If this was an illusion and no body switch took place, he may have very well known it was Adalind he was with.

Maybe. I think that reasoning is predicated on the idea that Nick is the type of lover that pays attention to his lover's body, knows her responses to his touch, knows her hot points and a man who is aware of his entire partner in bed as opposed to just what part of her his male organ is currently in contact with. Somehow, with Nick, I suspect he is more the latter than the former.

RE: Adalind vs. Juliette/Eve - Hell Rell - 03-17-2017

Nick had no reason to suspect it was Adalind. He would only know if he had access to the same information we have. Besides the south clearly won over the north in that situation. He just assumed Juliette wanted to have an afternoon delight and didn't question it which I assume plenty people wouldn't. There hadn't been an instance of anyone impersonating someone else at that point in the show.

Trying to explain this body morphing won't get us any closer to the truth. It was just a means to an end to eliminate Nick's Grimm. I don't know if it was to get Adalind pregnant with Nick's baby because that probably doesn't happen if CC didn't get pregnant. We can question a lot of things about it like what would've happened if Adalind got drunk as Juliette. Would she immediately sober up when she regained her original form? Would the smell of alcohol completely disappear from her breath? I have no problem accepting that whatever she did as Juliette stuck.

RE: Adalind vs. Juliette/Eve - irukandji - 03-17-2017

You know, I'm not so sure he didn't know. I thought his reaction to sleeping with Adalind was weird to say the least. In other words, he seemed to have no problem that she would do such a thing. I don't mean just sleeping with her. Nick's a grimm. He would have had to have figured there was an ulterior motive there. Besides that, we have Elizabeth stating the spell tied them together in different ways. Could one of the ways be that Nick knew it was Adalind?

Adalind could become pregnant by turning back into Adalind while she's still carrying Nick's sperm in her.

It could even be possible that Adalind did become pregnant while Juliette, then turned back into a non-pregnant Adalind, who then became pregnant again because she still had the swimmers inside her.

Depends on how much time passed between the sex and when "Juliette" turned back into Adalind. Based on what we see on the screen, it's not more than an hour, so I would agree, it's not likely that she became pregnant while Juliette. But it's not impossible, either.

It would be a pretty useless spell if you turned so completely into another person that you actually thought like them and not like yourself. Whoever devised that spell would certainly have formulated it to not affect the brain.
