Any Twin Peaks fans here? - Grimmster123 - 10-08-2014 I just saw the other day that the show is receiving a 9-episode revival to air on Showtime in 2016. I've always heard about it considering it has a huge cult following but never really tried watching it. Now that they're bringing the show back I may have to give it a shot. First off, How do you guys feel about the revival news? I've heard from many people that the show was cancelled prematurely Second, Do you guys think this would be a show I would enjoy? I've watched the X-Files, Buffy, and I watch Grimm now, and I really like police procedurals, Is Twin Peaks worth a shot for me? RE: Any Twin Peaks fans here? - Hyndara - 10-08-2014 From my point of view Twin Peaks was a very ... special show. Personally I tried it several times but never got hooked but I understand why people have fallen in love with it. So, it worth a try, you can stop if you don't like. Actually, as it was often refered as sort of "New Twin Peaks" I see a theme with me, I also don't like "The Killing". If I would have to choose between Twin Peaks and The Killing, I definetely would go for Twin Peaks - at least it's Fincher and I adore his other works so much . RE: Any Twin Peaks fans here? - Lou - 10-10-2014 I really enjoyed Twin Peaks. I've seen all the TV shows and the movie. However, I sort of felt "Gyped". The endings never left me with the good satisfied feeling of having finished a good mystery. (this wouldn't have been a problem if it hadn't been posing as a good mystery). If you watched Lost till the end, I think you will have experienced the same feeling. Now, some people will tell you its not the destination, but the journey. But when it comes to a mystery I want a solution, i want a solution that holds water and makes sense (even after 2 minutest of critical thinking) , and one that I could have solved while watching the show if i was as smart as the detective (or at least feel that way). Instead at the end of twin peaks you mostly feel "WTF just happened?" . The other thing is that Twin peaks is now 25 years old. It was never a high budget show and if you were watching it now I think it would look and feel dated, and maybe even hokey. But maybe if you watched it and found something to read about it as you went along - i'm sure there are some good blogs or guides about it (I don't think wikis existed back then), then you might get a kick out of it. |
