Maybe it's something she only found out after she died. In life, she seemed pretty confident in her ability to survive.
Kelly (mom) didn’t have the stick or the staff. We know the stick made Nick unkillable, because he was shoot in at the Loft and just got up. When Nick killed Z, he had the staff, not Z. And more important, Nick had the whole rod (the stick became reunited with the staff). But I still think Nick could be killed, if he didn’t have the staff.

The powers of a Grimm, except being able to see Wesen, was just strength, reflexes, speed etc., and the willingness to fight. Nick got some extra abilities after becoming a zombie and temporally losing his sight. The Grimm’s blood also had some magic related to it, it could take away Hexenbiest powers and open sealed boxes, but what exactly it had to do with killing Z was never explained. Probably just the willingness and ability to fight evil, not accomplish miracles. For that purpose, they needed the staff.

I agree

Kelly was confident in her abilities and skills certainly however she certainly didn’t seem like she thought her or Nick were unkillable, the main powers of a Grimm were, increased strength, improved reflexes, ability to see wesen as well as some sort of muscle memory ability to be skilled fighters and have a great natural knowledge of weapons. Nick also had some extra abilities like, zombie powers and improved hearing.

Yes Nick on the show was only unkillable when he had the power of the stick or staff to bring him back to life or to keep healing him, kelly on the other hand had no such safety net she was very much vulnerable death which was cleary shown by her death in season 4.

There were zero creatures or charecters on the show who were truly unkillable, even the unstoppable Zerstorer found his end, even supposed difficult to kill creatures like Hexenbiests seemed to drop like flies as 6 of them were killed permanently throughout the show.

Yes, and if a Grimm couldn’t be killed, their won’t be a point to have the The Reapers either. From Grimm wiki: "Reapers are a society of bounty hunters dedicated to killing all Grimms".

Your correct also I recall Monroe telling Nick in season 1 his uncle told him a Grimm was beheaded by a reaper in Germany and he needed to watch his back.
I think being a parent must have dulled Kelly's edge. As a young woman, she and Marie were the badass Kessler sisters, but as Nick's mom, when she learns there's a hit squad on the way, she sends her husband and friend off to get killed and her son off with her sister and then goes on the run when the sensible thing to do would have been to bundle everybody into Marie's wagon and head out as one group with two Grimms riding shotgun. After being on her own for years she reappears all badass again, but a year after becoming baby Diana's other mommy, she walks right into a trap and gets her head taken off.

I agree face, however the key factor which led Kelly to her death was Juliettes betrayal, Kelly trusted Juliette completely when she probably shouldn’t have no matter how much she meant to her son. However to be fair to Kelly it’s hardly an everyday occurrence for a Grimms girlfriend to get turned into a Hexenbiest and to go on a crazy revenge spree, I doubt anyone saw that coming.
But again, the question is not whether Kelly can be killed or whether Nick can be killed, but whether either of them *believes* they can be killed.

The argument about Juliette was that she suddenly gained all of this power. Because she suddenly gained all of this power, she believed she could not be killed. The power took over and in some way, prevented the normal processes of self-preservation at all costs to come through.

Nick gained tremendous powers through the staff. He also gained further power via the power of the grimm. He took that power and resurrected everyone else.

Kelly gained power through the forced adoption of Diana. If she knew about the power of the grimm, then she must have had it as well. The question has arisen as to why she'd go to Nick's that night, with only Diana at her side. No doubt she used her power of the grimm to fight that night. However, the question has also arisen as to why Diana didn't assist and save Kelly that night. Kelly herself may have believed, that, having Diana at her side would have prevented her from being killed.

So the question is, does a source of great power prevent these people from believing they can be killed. If the thought is that it could happen with Juliette, I am not seeing any difference with Kelly, or with Nick.
Doesn't take a source of great power for people to believe they can't be killed. 25% of Americans under the age of 35 don't seem to believe they can even get sick enough to need health insurance.
Not according to this forum with regard to Juliette. She can understand that she can be killed, but knowing she could be killed? Most of the posts state she was swayed by the power she had. That should stand to reason that both Kelly and Nick are as well.
