I really liked this episode. It felt like 'ol skool Grimm. Monroe going undercover and shouting "eat them all was a highlight. I liked the gang being hesitant because Nick was a little too gung-ho about joining HW although we all know it's coming.

When are we going to get some more Rosalee and Adalind scenes? Adalind has only interacted with Grimms and briefly Meisner since "Clear and Wesen Danger". There was even a clear parallel in the episode. Monroe was enamored with Rosalee being able to translate the Irish text while Nick felt the same about Adalind's knowledge of ancient symbols. I hope Adalind's knowledge of ancient rituals, especially the dark arts, will be utilized more in the near future.
Very good post, Hell Rell. Well, I missed all but a few minutes of last night's episode (out of town guests); looked excellent. Since I have to wait until I can watch it on Demand, I'll rattle on here. Big Grin

I was thinking about the episode's slogan again and noticed some biblical references in how the killer's victims were sacrificed. The first scene shows the victim being made to struggle under the weight of carrying his own cross. The horn stab in the side of the victim could be compared to the spear thrust into Christ's side. There is a biblical reference about the crucifixion about both blood and water spilling on the ground from the wound on Christ's side. And there was a challis-like vessel used in the crimes. No disrespect intended, but it did seem as if the writer's were combining the wesen ancient ritual of making the rains comes during a drought, with some our of own Christian beliefs, which makes the episode slogan even more meaningful to the story.

Two things were left unexplained, at least I didn't notice a resolution. First, and very puzzling, was the mirror-like coverings on the victim's eyes. They made a point of remarking about them, but then it went nowhere. Anybody notice an explanation of the meaning of that, seems significant. Secondly, where the heck is Chinatown in Portland; I mean, they said twice they were going there, but I don't think they did, maybe some footage was left on the editing room floor.

Thanks for the references, New Guy. Very interesting reading, I didn't know that the tradition of placing something over the eyes of the dead was so widespread. But it did remind me that I have come across the practice of putting pennies on the eyes to pay the boatman who ferries the dead over the River Styx before.

The Tax Man comparison was a complete surprise. But it's a good one; especially the lyrics to the Beatles' song, really clever.

Don't remind me - I have to get started on collecting all the stuff for our accountant soon; just hate that task! Smile

I thought the homeless people were human, but what if they were wesen and we just weren't shown that they were wesen? Wesen are supposed to be able to see their true souls in the eyes of a Grimm. I don't know what Grimm see in a wesen's eyes, there must be something. But if the wesen's eyes were covered with mirrors? The wesen symbolically would see nothing and the only thing a Grimm would see is himself. Could it be some kind of a message to Nick from Black Claw? I have no idea just thought I would throw thought out.

You could be on to something there, irukandji, thanks Smile We may see something more about this in future episodes. It's a very chilling message if so, just the kind of violent warning the BC gave to those who didn't join them in the raid of the Wesen Nacht. But since it hasn't been revealed who are the good guys and who are the bad guys yet, it could be BC's way of saying 'We're not going to put up with your attacks against wesen any longer'.
