HISTORICAL SUMMARY FROM WIKIPEDIA
Matthew Hopkins (c. 1620 – 12 August 1647) was an English witch-hunter whose career flourished during the English Civil War. He claimed to hold the office of Witchfinder General, although that title was never bestowed by Parliament. His witch-hunts mainly took place in East Anglia.

Hopkins' witch-finding career began in March 1644 and lasted until his retirement in 1647. He and his associates were responsible for more people being hanged for witchcraft than in the previous 100 years, and were solely responsible for the increase in witch trials during those years. He is believed to have been responsible for the deaths of 300 women between the years 1644 and 1646. It has been estimated that all of the English witch trials between the early 15th and late 18th centuries resulted in fewer than 500 executions for witchcraft. Therefore, presuming the number executed as a result of investigations by Hopkins and his colleague John Stearne is at the lower end of the various estimates, their efforts accounted for about 60 per cent of the total; in the 14 months of their crusade Hopkins and Stearne sent to the gallows more people than all the other witch-hunters in England of the previous 160 years.

POWERS
All the normal abilities of a Grimm (heightened strength, stamina, speed, etc.) magnified a thousand fold. In addition, Hopkins is immune to Hexenbiest seduction and control. He can also sense a Wesen woge from over a kilometer away. Woging is the equivalent of shooting a flare straight up into the night sky for Hopkins to track. His elderly appearance deceives most Wesen, who often underestimate him to a fatal extent.

Hopkins is not immortal, but his status as an UberGrimm has granted him an unnatural longevity. Although appearing as a man in his late 60's/early 70's, Hopkins is approximately three hundred and fifty years old. His specialty is dispatching Hexenbiests and Zauberbiests, although he excels at hunting every other known species of Wesen. Hopkins has slaughtered more Wesen than any other Grimm in known history.

Hopkins has extensive, encyclopedic knowledge of all Wesen personalities, to the point where he can exploit their individual quirks and temperaments to his advantage. In addition, the "infinite darkness" seen in a Grimm's eyes can also be found in Hopkins's eyes, albeit greatly amplified. Many Wesen have been driven mad simply by looking directly at his face, Hexenbiests included. His preferred method of torture is burning a cross-shaped poker into the exposed backs of Wesen. Hopkins also keeps a private collection of severed Hexenbiest tongues, which he believes to be "their most prized assets."

The passage of time hasn't dulled Hopkins's Puritan inclinations. Rather, he has become even more fanatical in his beliefs. He sees himself and other Grimms as being the true Chosen of God, whereas the majority of "normal" humans (and all Wesen) are condemned to Hell's inferno from the moment of birth. He has founded his own twisted variation of Christian Puritanism, leading a small group of loyal Grimms across the globe in a non-stop Wesen bloodbath which (to date) no one has been able to halt. He sees himself as a prophet, and his followers as disciples, readying the Earth for God's final judgement.

CURRENT WHEREABOUTS
Sometime in the year 1647, Hopkins faked his death in order to throw the Wesen Council off his trail. From the year 1987 onward, Hopkins has lived under the alias "Michael Harker," a retired priest living in Wales, UK. However, reports of the disappearance of the Knights Templar's treasure from its catacomb in the Black Forest have drawn him out of seclusion...

HISTORICAL SUMMARY BY GEORGE KNOWLES
Matthew Hopkins is perhaps the most notorious name in the history of English witchcraft, more commonly he was known as “The Witch-Finder General”. Throughout his reign of terror 1645-1646, Hopkins acquired a feared and evil reputation as a ‘fingerman’ (informer), paid by local authorities to commit perjury. Together with his henchman and fellow ‘Witch-Pricker’ John Sterne, in just 14 months, Hopkins was responsible for the condemnations and executions of some 230 alleged witches, more than all the other witch-hunters that proliferated during the 160-year peak of the country’s witchcraft hysteria.

POWERS: All the normal abilities of a Grimm (heightened strength, stamina, speed, etc.) magnified a thousand fold. In addition, Hopkins is immune to every form of Hexenbiest seduction and control. He can also sense a Wesen woging from over three kilometers away.

Hopkins is not immortal, but his status as an UberGrimm has granted him an unnatural longevity. Although appearing as a man in his late 50's/early 60's, Hopkins is well over three hundred and fifty years old. His specialty is dispatching Hexenbiests and Zauberbiests, although he excels at hunting every other known species of Wesen. Hopkins has slaughtered more Wesen than any other Grimm in known history. However, he is also responsible for murdering just as many humans during his early days, when his techniques were still "in their infancy."

Hopkins has extensive, encyclopedic knowledge of the personalities of all Wesen, to the point where he can exploit their individual quirks and temperaments to his advantage. In addition, the "infinite darkness" seen in a Grimm's eyes (as described as Monroe) can also be found in Hopkins's eyes, albeit greatly amplified. Hopkins has been known to drive many Wesen insane just by forcing them to look directly at his face, Hexenbiests included. His preferred method of torture is burning a cross-shaped poker into the exposed backs of Wesen. Hopkins also keeps a private collection of severed Hexenbiest tongues, which he believes to be "their most prized assets."

Sometime in the year 1647, Hopkins faked his death in order to throw the Wesen Council off his trail. From the year 1987 onwards, Hopkins has worked under the identity of "Michael Harker," a charismatic priest living in Wales, UK. But increased Hexenbiest activity in the city of Portland has drawn Hopkins/Harker to Oregon.

Ok I'll go along and add this Nick is on the same path as theUBERGRIMM. When he gets to Portland he notes this and takes Nick into his trust and starts teach Nick the "way" of an UBERGRIMM . He has also had the zombie effect and learn to call it up as needed at this was in 1647 when he was attacked but he had a Rosalee type girlfriend who cured him. He does lack the hearing of Nick, but can block his eyes from giving him away as a Grimm something he had learn in 300 plus years.

It's quite possible for Hopkins to become a "bad influence" on Nick, assuming he continues down the dark path the promos for season 5 have been suggesting.

But we have Trubel bring him back to he Force.
Does anyone else feel Juliette/Eve has become ridiculously overpowered? It's time for a villain to come along to bring her down a few pegs. Matthew Hopkins is the man for the job.
Hi Hexenadler,
In regard to your question:
Quote:Does anyone else feel Juliette/Eve has become ridiculously overpowered?
Absolutely! She seemed about right (power-wise) when she kicked Adalinds butt. The factory massacre was ridiculous. If BC cannot be stopped without Eve then BC should be victorious and take over the world.
On your second point:
Quote:It's time for a villain to come along to bring her down a few pegs. Matthew Hopkins is the man for the job.
I prefer Nick to Grimm up and handle the Eve problem. When Nick says in 5.07 "Because I need to bury her, one way or another." I see him expressing a resolve to reach total closure of the tragic relationship with Juliette. My preferred "way" is to return her corpse to real death and really bury her.
New Guy

New Guy

Personally, I'd rather see a new antagonist explode on the scene who forces Nick and Juliette/Eve to combine their powers against him. He could kill people who are close to both characters (in Nick's case, maybe Adalind or Trubel. In Juliette/Eve's case, Meisner), making them realize this guy is no joke.

Good guess.

Conrad B & Sean forced/pressured Adalind to leave Nick and killed Meisner which forces Nick and Juliette/Eve to team up together.
