I can see where the cop part of the show isn't well defined. But I have to say that the grimm/wesen part of the show isn't well defined either.
For instance, why are Nick and Hank assigned to investigate these crimes? Is it because Nick is a Grimm? If so, who makes that decision and how do they know wesen are involved? If Grimm is moving toward wesen mystery with the police department as the background, they missed big time here.
The only time Nick uses his Grimm powers is to fight criminal wesen. Why isn't he using his Grimm powers for constructive purposes, say developing his own network of wesen informants?
And what about Nick himself? What should he be telling the audience to make us believe that being a Grimm is much more important than being a cop?
From what I see, it's not just the cop part of the show that's undeveloped. The writers pick and choose pieces of the Grimm/wesen culture for their stories and leave it at that.
I know a lot of people love these subplots with the royals and the keys, and maps, and coins, and the council, etc, etc, etc. I actually find all of that tedious. To me, it clutters up the main story.
Maybe Nick should just go rogue and start from scratch.

The best way to frustrate a cyberbully is to ignore him.
