They both had major issues in the relationship through their own faults but it's much like a normal relationship with the hurdles being made "TV Big". Both were very immature with the way they dealt with things and by the finale both paid a steep price. The writing was on the wall from the beginning , IMO but no one could have known how spectacularly damaging the final outcome could be.
I think the light-hearted breaks will be few and far between in S5. This show definitely wants to take on a darker tone with it's new direction.
Nick will become obsessed with his "Grimmness" as a coping mechanism for loosing two large influences in his life between his mother and his former girlfriend.
I hope the writers do try to interject some levity with Bud, Wu and perhaps even the birth of the child. I want to see both Nick and Juliette stumbling a bit with the parenting in funny ways. Nick can take out an Ogre but maybe successfully quieting a screaming child at 3 am will be charmingly frustrating.
