History is replete with examples of actors who had great onscreen chemistry but hated each other in real life. So yes, I would say that the great actors either conceal their true feelings if they would negatively impact their performances or are wise enough to turn down roles if they decide they can't.
Of course, in some cases actors and directors decide that letting real life affect their performances actually improves things, but that's not what we're talking about here.
