I don't mind Trubel - as long as she's there to enhance Nick's storyline. I agree with TVer2014 that it's Nick's story, not hers. I don't mind Trubel; I just don't want her taking over.

What I think is likely is that she was put in the show to balance the characters. That is, to add another female character, since the show is rather male character dominated. Also, they are trying to get in some more young viewers. Just my opinion. And of course, now that Monrosalee are married, their priority will be building a life together, this would preclude a lot of Grimm activity. So, Nick needs a new sidekick to take up the slack.

There is the possibility of splitting the team. Could either Nick or Truble end up going to Europe to hunt down Adalind along with one or two others from the team? Perhaps meet up with Meisner or someone else from the resistance?
Might be a good job for Truble and Renard, if he survives. Or, if Nick gets suspended, perhaps he and Hank could go after her.

I really hope the writers don't have Monroe and Rosalee's world further imploding on itself; they've been trivialized enough as it is. The idea that Stabby Spice is going to be Nick's "sidekick" instead of them emphasizing the friendship between Nick and Monroe and taking advantage of this ideal opportunity to put Monroe back in his place as Nick's right hand man makes me cringe. I agree Theresa is probably a lollipop being waved at younger viewers. She certainly plays like a thirteen-year-old girl's idea of what constitutes a "strong woman." Sigh.

First of all, I will admit here and now that I love the term "Stabby Spice", and I'm going to steal it to use it as often as I can.
Secondly, what you said about her playing like a 13 year old girl's idea of a strong woman rang so absolutely true to me. That is so on the money! I just thought of it as her stunted growth, considering how much she's been on her own. We'll have to see how much she evolves as a character - does she continue to act the same way, or does she learn and grow?

The character is basically feral. She has been in and out of foster homes, group homes and mental institutions. She now has the opportunity to be socialized as part of a 'family and friends' group of people who have strong bonds to one another and learn how to act like a young woman. The question is, will that be the path the character takes on the show, or will she remain "Stabby Spice".

Those writers have a lot of challenges for this upcoming season. I know they're back to work; hopefully this made the "to do" list on their board.

I don't mind Trubel; I just don't want her taking over. If anything, I think the show is becoming more of an ensemble. That seems especially true with the way the Season 3 ended. The dynamic is changing. And, honestly, things are a lot better this way. The first season is a bit clunkier since Nick has to go through the majority of it hiding his true nature from basically everyone he personally knows. That couldn't have carried through for several seasons without straining disbelief. As for Truble/Theresa, I think she might be potential spin-off material. I also don't understand the hate for her. Maybe it's just because she's a new character, or maybe it's for how closely she leans to the traditional 'bad girl' tropes. Not really sure. For me, I think she has enough downsides to her characterization -- recklessness and stupidity have nearly done her in a few times, sheer brutality in fights, mental issues -- and room for growth -- becoming part of Nick's household, writing her own Grimm journals, learning to be part of a team -- that makes me pretty sure she's not going to stay in bad girl mode forever. And for as 'awesome' as she is, the writers have made it obvious that the things that have toughened her have also damaged her. If it wasn't for the downsides, yeah, she would be an unbelievable character. I think her addition is important since she also acts as a 'foil' to Nick -- her fighting style and mentality are darker than his. Which makes sense. He grew up in a stable environment and when he came into his powers, he quickly found out what they were. Good point about the training; he was a detective and in law enforcement for a while when his powers manifested, so he probably has seen some terrifying things in his day job. Trubel had her powers at a younger age and the way she found out she about them was really brutal. It's little wonder that these two have such a contrast.
