I was curious about this show after hearing a few things about it and seeing the previews. So, my husband and I binged it on Thursday. I wondered if anyone else has been watching it.
Rotten Tomatoes has lamblasted it, but the reviews suggest fans like the show. There are not many reviews though.
I love Star Trek and while this is a throwback to the Enterprise, the first couple of episodes of The Orville were a real departure from the heroic bridge team of the Enterprise. On the other hand, while the comedy sometimes falls flat, I got caught up in the stories and the show seems to be getting better as it progresses. I have to admit, seeing the bridge crew drink sodas while on duty is kind of cool in a weird sort of way.

The promos for this show led me to expect a lot more of a comedic satire, along the lines of "Galaxy Quest." I was disappointed when the actual show turned out to just be Seth Mcfarlane living out some fantasy of playing Captain Kirk in what is essentially a network-financed series of Star Trek fan films.

As I said I thought the comedy fell flat in the series, but some of it did in Galaxy Quest and even Star Trek too. I didn't particularly like the new MacGuyver series, but after watching it a while, it grew on me. So I'll give this one a chance. Thanks for the feedback.
