New tales are being prepared for Grimm as the show is renewed for Season 6 by NBC. Currently on its fifth season which will conclude this May, the supernatural crime series has created a whole new world which fans are very eager to explore further as the renewal announcement came in early.
In a report from The Futon Critic, the renewal announcement was made by NBC Entertainment President, Jennifer Salke. She said, “We absolutely love what our producers and cast have accomplished over the past five seasons. They have created a whole new world of creatures and have a truly devoted fan base. We can’t wait to see what comes next.”
The Portland-based drama will introduce more interesting new characters as well. A synopsis came with the announcement of the next instalment which will give fans an idea as to what to expect in the upcoming season:
“As the nefarious forces of Black Claw take hold of Portland, Nick (David Giuntoli) must take a stand to protect his city and those closest to him, especially his child with Adalind (Claire Coffee). It will take the full force of Nick and his allies to find a way to bring the Wesen uprising to a halt.
Now that Capt. Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz) is poised to make his move to power, his allegiance to Nick will be tested and he will consider drastic measures to ensure his place of authority.”
Despite having ratings dropping in the latest season, it’s not a surprise that the fairytale-themed show was still renewed. They still had good numbers for a primetime Friday show and can be comparable to shows airing on Monday nights, CinemaBlend writes. It also has higher ratings than other rather similar Friday night shows like Sleepy Hollow and The Vampire Diaries.
NBC also took the opportunity to point out that affluent people like watching the show. And that Grimm does well in the key demographic among those who earn over $100,000 annually. Even after the live telecast, the show gains 2.4 million viewers from Live+7 delayed viewing and is growing by 90% in the 18-49 demographic
Wonder what Drastic measure Renard is going to take to ensure his place of authority
