Catherine didn't seem at all sorry about Adalind's absence when she told Renard (and later, Nick) that she hadn't talked to her and didn't know where she was, but could be that Nick's mom killed her before she had time to realize that she needed to "be there" for her only child.
Thank you for this, FaceInTheCrowd. I actually think Catherine was probably upset that Adalind admitted to her that she wasn't getting the key for them, but instead for Renard. I wondered what would have happened had Adalind got the key. It almost seemed to me like she'd tell Renard that Catherine still owed her debt to him.
The best way to frustrate a cyberbully is to ignore him.
